About

Founded by local surfer and coach Rachid Makoua, Local Surf Maroc is a professional surf school and surf camp based in Tamraght, in the heart of Morocco's renowned Taghazout Bay. What began as Rachid sharing his local knowledge with visiting surfers has grown into a team of experienced local coaches dedicated to helping surfers progress through structured, personalised coaching. Our coaching is designed for surfers who are ready to move beyond simply catching waves and start surfing with greater confidence, consistency, and purpose. Whether you're looking to improve your wave selection, positioning, paddling efficiency, turning technique, or overall surf knowledge, our programmes are built to help you make measurable progress. At Local Surf Maroc, we believe progression isn't random—it's structured. Rather than simply guiding surfers to good waves, we provide coaching that helps you understand why you're making progress and what to focus on next. Every session combines practical coaching with surf theory, video analysis, and personalised feedback, giving you the tools to continue improving long after your trip has ended. Small coaching groups allow us to deliver individual feedback throughout the week, while our local knowledge enables us to choose the most suitable surf breaks each day based on the conditions and your ability level. From the beach breaks and point breaks of Taghazout Bay to the region's more challenging reef setups, every session is selected with progression and safety in mind. Our experienced local coaching team has spent years surfing Morocco's coastline and understands how different tides, winds, swell directions, and wave types influence each break. This allows us to maximise water time, expose surfers to a variety of conditions, and develop the adaptability needed to become a more complete surfer.
